A playful Memphis design from 1982. the Callimaco Floor Lamp by Ettore Sottsass is often described as a horn of light because of its resemblance to an oversized musical instrument. Atop the yellow-painted aluminum shaft sits the bright-red accent of the lamp’s steel diffuser. which points to the ceiling to fill your room with indirect LED light. The lamp sits on a conical gray-painted steel base—the bell of the giant trumpet inspiration for the design. The Callimaco features an incorporated touch dimmer and uses a 35W LED bulb. It measures 78.75h with a 15.4diam. ase and a 96l cord. Ettore Sottsass. a founding member of the Memphis Design Group. is a designer with work in MoMA’s collection.
